Giving back and being fully engaged members of the community are core values at Nyhus Communications.
Over the last few years, we have been making steady improvements to our internal corporate responsibility program. We are now pursuing a more robust plan, including specific metrics for improvement.
Additionally, in early 2012 Nyhus will be undertaking a more formal evaluation process, including a materiality assessment, to determine the most material social, environmental and economic issues related to our business. We look forward to sharing the results of that process.
Here’s snapshot of our current work:
| Goal | Progress |
|---|---|
| Formal annual review process and professional development program | Formalized annual review process, which includes professional development program |
| Involve team more directly in strategic direction of the agency | Deployed “Inspired Nyhus” program in 2011 with 7 target areas for employee engagement |
| Goal | Progress |
|---|---|
| Encourage the use of public transportation | More than 50% of Nyhus team members use alternative or public transportation to reach the office or travel to client meetings on a daily basis. |
| Source from environmentally responsible vendors and suppliers, incorporate green purchasing practices into client work. | Currently use soy based inks and recycled paper produced primarily with wind power. Researching environmentally-responsible vendors to expand this practice. |
| Source from environmentally responsible vendors for employee amenities. | Currently, Nyhus offers in-office access to dry cleaning services provided by Blue Sky Cleaners, Seattle’s only non-toxic dry cleaner. Researching other vendors to expand this practice, where appropriate. |
| Goal | Progress |
|---|---|
| Formalize pro bono program | Nyhus currently takes on a significant amount of pro bono work. Working to formalize this contribution to ensure it equals 2-3% of revenues annually. Also offer a 10% discount on our fees for non-profits. |
