Giving back and being fully engaged members of the community are core values at Nyhus Communications.
Over the last few years, we have been making steady improvements to our internal corporate responsibility program. We are now pursuing a more robust plan, including specific metrics for improvement.
Nyhus is currently undertaking a more formal evaluation process, including a materiality assessment, to determine the most material social, environmental and economic issues related to our business. We look forward to sharing the results of that process.
Here’s snapshot of our current work:
| Goal | Progress |
|---|---|
| Operationalize formal review process (90 days, 6 month, annual) based on core competencies | Core competencies developed with collective team input and formally introduced to team in early 2012; review forms and processes utilizing competencies to roll out Q2 |
| Operationalize professional development program | Formal individual development program (IDP), based on core competencies to roll out Q2 |
| Provide regular opportunities for continued learning | Performing informal training assessment to identify needs in order to develop plan for continued team growth; formal training program expected to be implemented by Q3

| Involve team in strategic direction of the agency | Deployed “Inspired Nyhus” program in 2011 with seven target areas for employee engagement
Introduced “Mission 2012” program where individuals self-selected onto a series of business development teams based on their own interests; teams meet regularly and inform agency strategy |

| Source from environmentally responsible vendors and suppliers, incorporate green purchasing practices into client work. | Currently use soy based inks and recycled paper produced primarily with wind power. Researching environmentally-responsible vendors to expand this practice. |
| Source from environmentally responsible vendors for employee amenities. | Currently, Nyhus offers in-office access to dry cleaning services provided by Blue Sky Cleaners, Seattle’s only non-toxic dry cleaner. Researching other vendors to expand this practice, where appropriate. |
