About Us

Joseph Vandenorth is an account executive specializing in media relations, brand strategy, events management and consumer marketing. Joe joined the corporate and consumer practice at Nyhus in October of 2011 bringing experience executing marketing and public relations campaigns for innovative brands, including Microsoft and Alcatel-Lucent.

Before joining Nyhus, Joe worked on building brand awareness of Microsoft’s new mobile platform, Windows Phone. He secured positive reviews of various Windows Phone devices in national print and online publications, including Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, Maxim, GQ, and CNN Money, among others. Joe played a key role in the launch events for Windows Phone, which included consumer-focused concerts, salon dinners, and press tours. He also led Windows Phone’s presence at the 2011 SXSW Interactive Conference in Austin, Texas.

Prior to his work with Microsoft, Joe worked on public relations and public affairs campaigns for several companies in the Pacific Northwest, including Vulcan Real Estate, HomeStreet Bank, United Healthcare, Swedish Medical Center and the Allen Institute for Brain Science.

Joe brings a bevy of international experience to the Nyhus team with several years spent in Europe. He first studied European politics and culture at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) then moved to Paris to intern at global communication leader Alcatel-Lucent and finally worked in Barcelona at brand design firm, SUMMA.

Outside of work, Joe’s passions include urban planning, design, travel and music – all of which he blogs about on Tumblr and Twitter. He also volunteers some of his time to help the Capitol Hill Champion, a community group focused on transit-oriented development, advance their vision of carrying out sustainable and smart development on Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Joe has a bachelor’s degree in advertising with a minor in cinema studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A native of Chicago, he now calls the Pacific Northwest home.
