Marc Stiles
Account Manager

Marc Stiles is a public relations account manager, focusing on commercial real estate and hospitality clients. An award–winning newspaper reporter and editor with more than 20 years of publishing experience — 15 of them in the Puget Sound region — Marc has a strong grasp of the public policy issues at play in Washington state and a keen understanding of how the media work in the Seattle area.

Marc is especially knowledgeable about commercial real estate. Prior to joining Nyhus, he reported on real estate trends for the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce, where he wrote the well–received “Real Estate Buzz” column. This experience and his understanding of the issues that affect development make him an invaluable asset to Nyhus’ real estate clients, ranging from developers to architects. In addition to writing about real estate, Marc covered the Port of Seattle for the DJC, where he previously had written about environmental and transportation issues.

Marc began his journalistic career in southwest Washington, as the news editor of the Chinook Observer, a community newspaper that serves the Long Beach Peninsula. He later served as the coastal correspondent for the Pulitzer Prize–winning Longview Daily News, where he worked on breaking stories as well as in–depth stories about the peninsula’s expanding population and its effect on the community’s greatest natural asset: Willapa Bay.

After moving to Seattle in 1992, Marc worked for several suburban newspapers judged consistently to be among the best in the state and nation. He covered a diverse range of issues, from the controversy surrounding the expansion of Seattle–Tacoma International Airport to the scandal of elementary school teacher Mary K. Letourneau, whose story attracted international attention.

Marc has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He is an active member in the Urban Land Institute’s Seattle chapter, and he leads Nyhus’ Sustainability Action Team.
