As the gateway separating South Lake Union from downtown Seattle, Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle stands as an urban beacon of luxury and the anchor to the city’s most vibrant, up-and-coming neighborhoods.
In an effort to set a new bar of environmental standards in the hospitality industry, Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle created PanEarth, an innovative conservation program that was put together by Bainbridge Graduate Institute Alumnus, Molly Phillips. In an industry that isn’t known for sustainability innovation, Pan Pacific tapped Nyhus to help tell the PanEarth story.
Nyhus developed a campaign that combined media relations and strategic relationships to leverage the PanEarth program. Nyhus also helped draft compelling messages to position the hotel as a leader and forward thinker in the sustainability realm for a wide array of media targets including local and national business outlets, environmental publications and hotel industry magazines.
Pan Pacific’s PanEarth program was featured in a variety of local and national publications, and it has received formal recognition from Pan Pacific’s corporate headquarters in Singapore. A few of the noteworthy publications that Nyhus secured include the local outlets such as the Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle PI, Seattle Business Magazine, and industry publications including Hotel Business Review, Hotels Magazine and Meetings and Conventions. Molly Phillips also drafted a guest blog post about carbon offsets for the Climate Action Reserve, a national offsets program working to ensure integrity, transparency and financial value in the U.S. carbon market.
In addition to this coverage, Nyhus has been able to introduce Pan Pacific to new strategic partners such as Washington Clean Tech Alliance, a trade association of clean tech businesses and supporters in Washington State, and Methodologie, a local brand design systems firm that specializes in corporate social responsibility reporting.
Most recently, the property was awarded the Community Service Award, Full Service Property from the Washington Lodging Association’s Stars of the Industry Award.
